About David

Everyone's an expert these days, but not everyone's got the bruises to prove it.

I've spent 19 years learning how software actually gets built, mostly by watching it break. I started in hands-on QA, grew through roles as QA Manager, Tech Lead, QA Architect and Head of Quality, and today I run engineering operations end to end: the standards, frameworks, delivery, culture and systems that decide how an engineering organization really works.

Right now most of that work is about AI. Not the demo version, but the one where teams write code faster and the business still waits. I lead AI-first transformation from strategy to execution. I've designed AI-native development lifecycles, built the operational systems that replace gut-feel management with real data, and led the integration of a $150M acquisition, which taught me more about delivery than any framework ever did.

I write about what I learn. Four books so far on quality, metrics and software delivery, the latest being REDEFINE: The Complete Reinvention of Software Delivery in the Age of AI. More are on the way, about what AI is doing to the people who build software.

What you'll find here is the practical side: what works in AI-era delivery, what doesn't, how to measure the difference, and the hard truths that never make it into the slide deck.
